Laboratory of the Internet of Things – IoT

Students are involved in real-world developments related to Industry 4.0 and Internet of Things (IoT) industrial automation technologies. Students of the department are given the opportunity to work with modern technologies and equipment for building distributed wireless networks (GSM/GPRS, ZigBee, LoRa, etc.). The students created models: a smart greenhouse, a smart home, a drinking water management system in the office, mobile robot control, etc. The lab also hosts workshops for schoolchildren on IoT. During the workshops, the children have the opportunity to learn what the Internet of Things is, how such devices work and how to build their own network; gain basic knowledge of electronics, learn how to work with sensors and actuators; start programming in C and Python; learn how to develop IoT projects on their own based on the open electronic platform for rapid prototyping Arduino, single-board computers Raspberry Pi, etc.

Virtual and Augmented Reality Laboratory

Students work with AR/VR augmented and virtual reality technologies. Among the developments of our department are: an augmented reality application for studying a university physics course, a 3D guide to the department (a 3D model of the premises and interior with the maximum resemblance to the original), a quest on information technology in a game form for applicants, an augmented reality application for Open Days, etc. As part of the laboratory, the department conducts master classes for schoolchildren called “Augmented Reality Vuforia AR and Unity 3D: A Little Magic”. This workshop is designed for those who want to learn how to work with AR/VR
